Like an exploding supernova radiating millions of years of energy, the Kaabah absorbs 1500 years of worship and reflects that energy back on the pilgrims of today. I strive in my work to reflect this personal quest. The significance of Hajj is something that I also strive of articulate. Pilgrimage to me is the greatest leveller. It is an experience that strips us back to the barest of our humanity and exposes our fundamental differences and our fundamentals similarities. It is a carnival of diversity unified by faith. The spiritual and physical paths that bring people to the Kaabah are also represented in the crossed lines and swirling circumambulation; journeys that start with God and ultimately lead back to Him.
